Revista Produtores Florestais - AGROSAFEBOX STRENGTHENS RURAL SAFETY
Accidents with driver-driven agricultural and forestry machines are the main cause of death in rural work in Portugal, causing an average of four deaths per month in 2020, according to data from Confagri. To prevent these accidents, Project Box, Lda., is developing the AgroSafeBox, a safety product that monitors in real time the location, inertia and other parameters of a vehicle (tractors and quad bikes), as well as the physiological signs of the driver, in order to improve the response capacity of the rescue teams. Collaborating in this project are TIS – Technological and Intelligent Systems, Lda., the Polytechnic Institute of Viseu, the Department of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics of the University of Aveiro, and the Higher School of Health (ESSUA).
