About the project

O projeto AgroSafeBox visa desenvolver, testar e implementar o Sistema- AgroSafeBox, permitindo monitorizar, em tempo real, a localização, a inércia e outros parâmetros de um veículo (sendo o âmbito do projeto dedicado aos tratores e motos-quatro usados para operações agrícolas e florestais), bem como os sinais fisiológicos do condutor, por forma a prevenir a ocorrência do acidente, passível de ser acoplado a qualquer veículo existente. Nestes casos o acidente ocorre devido às especificidades do terreno, por tombamento, pondo em risco a vida humana, o próprio equipamento e a cultura. A deteção no condutor de alterações comportamentais durante a condução, por monitorização dos seus sinais fisiológicos, pode também prevenir o acidente, nomeadamente por cansaço, stress, hábitos de condução, entre outros.

The AgroSafeBox System will prevent and alert to the risk of accident and medical emergency in 3 situations

  1. pre-driving;
  2. driving;
  3. accident or medical emergency.

Thus, it will enable

  1. To assess the driver's condition before driving begins, preventing the risk of an accident when the driver does not respond satisfactorily to the assessment made by the System;;
  2. When driving, monitor, in real time, parameters of the agricultural vehicle and the task in hand, which through stability criteria based on tipping indexes will prevent and warn of the risk of accident. It will also incorporate several physiological signals from the driver that may contribute to the occurrence of accidents;
  3. In case of accident or medical emergency, signalize and alert the competent authorities and emergency contact list, if not manually deactivated in a pre-set period. At the same time, it will also allow alerting vehicles equipped with AgroSafeBox located geographically close to the occurrence so that they can more quickly arrive at the scene and provide assistance.

The project also aims to provide a global and integrated management platform for the System-AgroSafeBox and its interaction with users, through a multi-platform interface (web, iOS, Android) for management, control and configuration of vehicles, among other features.

Activities

  • Scientific and technological updating and definition of requirements.
  • Study of vehicle instability, the degree of risk for the accident, and the type of action in the accident.
  • Development of the monitoring, prevention and alert system - KIT Base and KIT Base+.
  • Development of the monitoring, prevention and alert system - KIT Health.
  • Development of the KITS management platform (KIT Base, KIT Base+ and KIT Health) - (software).
  • Design and production of the first prototype of the AgroSafeBox System.
  • Testing and validation of the system in different scenarios.
  • Divulgation and dissemination of results.
  • Management and monitoring of project activities.

Expected results

The R&DT project, AgroSafeBox, based on technological innovation, has as expected results an intelligent system for monitoring, in real time, the location and inertia of the agricultural vehicle, as well as the vital signs of its driver, thus responding to the need to reduce the occurrence of serious accidents in the agricultural sector. The project intends to result in co-authored publications in journals and/or international conferences specializing in the area, as well as the completion of projects and dissertations under the bachelor and master's degree courses involved..
